SKIN Discolouration

One of the main ways we judge our appearance is by the colour and texture of our skin – our skin tone. The more even the colour and smoother the texture, the younger we appear and more attractive we feel. But a number of factors can affect skin tone on the face or body to cause skin discolouration, such as changes in the distribution of melanin (skin pigmentation or colouring) or the amount of collagen and elastin (which gives skin its volume and texture).

Skin Discolouration Symptoms

Sun damage

may lead to darker patches called ‘age spots’ or ‘liver spots’, particularly on the face and hands. It can also reduce levels of collagen and elastin so that skin sags and wrinkles prematurely.

Colour changes or pigmentation

light or dark brown areas develop, particularly on the face, in a cluster or big patch rather than as spots or freckles.

TREATMENTS THAT WILL HELP

Skin Peels

SKIN PEELS

Our range of peels and skin resurfaces can help to improve skin texture and redefine pores and are suitable for a range of conditions including pigmentation (discolouration), scars left by ingrowing hairs, lines and wrinkles, redness or rosacea and acne.

Laser

LASER SKIN REJUVENATION

Laser skin rejuvenation improves skin tone and texture for a more youthful look. It involves minimal ‘downtime’ and is suitable for a range of conditions including large and small areas of pigmentation (discolouration), rosacea, redness/inflammation and visible (or broken) veins.

Micro needling

MICRO NEEDLING

Micro-needling can be used on its own or in combination with other treatments. It helps to reduce lines, wrinkles, open pores and acne scarring and treats dry dehydrated skin to leave your skin looking fresher and smoother.

We have two treatment options – our DermaFrac machine has minimal downtime, while Collagen P.I.N. involves a slightly longer recovery.
LED Light Therapy

LED LIGHT THERAPY

We use blemish-fighting blue light therapy to treat the causes and symptoms of acne and rosacea by reducing inflammation, irritation and bacteria.

Red light therapy accelerates cell renewal, boosts collagen and elastin synthesis and increases hydration for smoother firmer skin.

Near infrared light helps repair skin and offers advance rejuvenation benefits, calming redness and irritation and reducing pigmentation with no downtime. Light treatments an be used alone or in combination with other clinical treatments.

Tej Tips

Don’t pick or
squeeze spots

Picking and popping spots can cause scars, as well as spread the spots. Try not to touch your spots as this could worsen the condition.

Check your
diet

Eating a balanced diet is important and can help improve your skin. Eating too many fatty foods can affect your skin, so opt for foods high in Omega 3 and cut down on dairy products and sugar.

Don’t clog
pores

Using heavy makeup isn’t good for the skin and can block pores. Try using lighter mineral make-up to allow the skin to breathe.

Stay out of
the sun

Too much exposure to the sun can dry the skin. Your skin produces excess oil to compensate, which can lead to more spots.

Take daily
exercise

Exercise delivers oxygen to skin cells and regulates hormone levels, all of which contribute to reducing acne.
