Hair Removal by Laser

Laser hair removal uses concentrated pulses of light that are absorbed by melanin, the pigment found in hair follicles. This energy painlessly heats the pigment and destroys the follicle without damaging surrounding cells.

The light can only be absorbed by dark hair, so unfortunately this treatment isn’t suitable if you have blonde, red or grey hair. But don’t despair! One of our other hair-removal treatments will be suitable for you.

At Tej & Co we use an advanced laser system called Lynton Lumina, which is a trusted, medically graded device used by the NHS. Unlike with other, lesser devices, Lumina works on fine hair and even removes hair below the surface of the skin – so no more shadowing!

The Lumina effectively removes hair from all areas of the face and body.

At your laser hair removal appointment, our friendly, expert therapists will guide you through the treatment process in detail, but as a guide it involves:

1. Carrying out a test on a small patch of skin 24 hours before your initial treatment to ensure you have no adverse reactions.
2. Gently cleansing the area and applying a pre-laser gel.
3. Placing the laser applicator on the skin, which then releases short pulses of light.
4. Moving the applicator and repeating the process until the entire area is treated.
5. Wiping off the gel and applying sunscreen to protect the skin.

A laser hair removal session typically takes anywhere between 15 minutes and an hour, depending on the size of the area being treated. At your consultation we’ll discuss whether laser hair removal is the most suitable treatment for you. If it is, we’ll put together a bespoke plan, tell you what to expect pre- and post-treatment and answer any questions you may have.

If you’re taking any medication (even aspirin, ibuprofen or alternative medicine), please bring it with you so we can make sure it won’t effect the treatment.

Most people see an improvement after two to four sessions, with hair growing back softer and finer. Longer term treatment results in permanent hair reduction.
