It’s holiday season and many of us will be busy getting suitcases packed and SPF products ready for the big summer getaway.

The summer is our busiest time of year when it comes to holiday waxing and getting skin summer ready, but did you know it’s not really the best time to be swapping from shaving to waxing? Hair grows in cycles and to work with that cycle of hair growth, it’s important to give the hair time to grow.

Years of shaving affects the hairs growth cycles and means the hair will grow back at different lengths and be thicker and courser. Waxing can help to break that cycle, but only when the hair is given time to grow between waxes – and, more importantly is long enough to wax.

What does waxing feel like?

One off waxes can feel more painful due to the hair being courser and stronger due to years of shaving. It’s also likely to be drier as shaving takes off the top layers of the skin. You won’t be used to the process of waxing, so anxiety over trying something new can lead to it feeling more painful. Regular waxers will be the first to tell you what a simple and easy process it is.

How long should I grow hair for?

Before your first waxing session with us we recommend at least two to three weeks’ worth of hair growth so the hair is long enough for the wax to grip onto. To gain the full benefits of holiday waxing you need to have had at least 4-6 treatments over a consistent period of time. After this amount of time your hair will be in the correct treatment cycle, you will be used to the process, and your skin will be reaping the benefits of our aftercare advice too.

What preparation should I do for waxing?

You should exfoliate and prep skin in the lead up to your waxing session, but give it a miss on the day of your wax. So prep is key and exfoliating dead skin cells will help the process and reduced the likelihood of in-grown hairs developing.

We also recommend wearing loose comfortable clothes after your appointment as tight clothing might irritate your freshly waxed skin, and avoid hot showers, strenuous exercise or anything that will make you sweat on the day of your wax.

What kind of bikini line waxes do we offer at Tej and Co?

We offer several different bikini waxes at Tej and Co here is the low down…..

holiday waxing treatment

Bikini line wax

This is a standard wax which will remove any hairs that are just outside of your underwear line.

High Leg bikini wax

A high-leg wax means we will wax higher up the leg and is suitable for those wearing high-leg swimwear on the beach

Brazilian Wax

A Brazilian wax removes much more hair than the standard bikini line or even high leg bikini wax. You can expect all hair to be removed from the cheeks, crack and underneath leaving you with a strip or triangle at the top. We usually ask that underwear is removed to enable us to work quickly and efficiently which means the procedure will be as comfortable as it can be for you.

Hollywood wax

The Hollywood wax is as above but this time we will be removing all hair from the front, back and underneath the underwear line. We use a hypoallergenic, organic warm, peelable wax which shrink wraps to each individual hair, not sticking to the skin and making the process as pain-free as possible.

Holiday waxing hot treatment

Our home care programmes are just as important as in clinic treatments and can make a big difference to your skin. We are then able to enhance the results further with treatments in the clinic if desired and required.
