Facial Eczema
I have suffered with eczema for as long as I can remember but when it began appearing on my face it became really debilitating. I work at a busy Pilates studio and I am meeting new people all the time. I want to feel confident in how I look when I am working, leading classes or demonstrating how to use equipment. Not only that though, facial eczema is also uncomfortable!
Eczema is an inflammatory condition; your skin feels hot and looks blotchy which is particularly difficult if you’re working in a role involving health and fitness when you’re often already feeling warm. It prevents you from being able to wear make-up and you can quite quickly become fixated by it, and what you can do to try and cure it.
Diet, nutrition and medical advice
People often talk about the connection between dairy products and inflammatory skin conditions like eczema, but I have been following a vegan diet for many years. Dairy isn’t something I eat at all, but I did speak to a nutritionist and was recommended some supplements to try, but nothing really worked.
I tried a multitude of different beauty products and eczema treatments over the past two years but with no change in the condition of my skin. I’ve lost count of the number of high-end, expensive products and treatments I’ve tried with no real results.

I’ve known Tej for a while as she attends our Pilates sessions at the Pilates Rooms. We were having a chat at Christmas, and she asked if I had been given any eczema treatments in the past. I explained that I had tried everything and was even prescribed steroid injections by my GP. They worked to a degree but as soon as they began to wear-off I was back to square one again. I wasn’t keen on using steroids on a long-term basis.

Prescriptive Skincare

Tej said I would have to go back to absolute basics using minimal products on my skin and no additional in clinic treatments. It was virtually the opposite of what I had been told to do in the past.
I began using a very simple cleanser and moisturiser twice a day and nothing else. No extra treatments, no facials, no medication, just two products. The products had no scent, minimal branding and looked like something you’d be prescribed from a chemist or GP.
Eczema Treatments and Red-Light Therapy
Tej & Co gave me a prescriptive skincare programme which was bespoke to my skincare needs. My skin wasn’t able to tolerate anything more than two basic products and the aim was restore and repair my skin barrier.
After two weeks of treatment, I was able to begin having Red Light Therapy twice a week with the Dermalux Red Light Therapy Machine. The results were positive, so to supplement the treatment I invested in the Dermalux Flex MD to use at home.

Long Term results, no quick fix but results for eczema
Two months into the programme and I am now able to see a visible difference in my skin. I’m less flushed, the dry patches have reduced significantly, and I no longer have a feeling of discomfort. At the end of February, I was able to begin using a bespoke serum alongside my cleanser and moisturiser, and still have red light therapy on a regular basis.
I know you hear the words ‘life-changing results’ being banded around, but I have to say that this is exactly what has happened for me. I hadn’t realised quite how debilitating my eczema had become; as a business owner and female we have the tendency to just keep fighting through. Now I can look back and say the eczema had become chronic.
I’m not sure why it became so bad, whether it was due to the stress of covid and closing my business or viral symptoms. What I do know is that Tej has given me my confidence back in a gentle and unpressured way with a genuine concern and care around my condition and my well-being. You can’t ask for more than that.
