Our clients often ask why we don’t recommend one-off waxing treatments, and why we always say if you’re about to go away stick with your regular method of hair removal.

While the summer season is the time most people think about waxing and especially so if they are about to go away on holiday, we recommend you set up a regular waxing schedule to gain optimum results from the treatment.

Our clinic is renowned across the West Midlands and has a team of advanced waxing practitioners offering waxing treatments including intimate waxing, which is an ideal solution for regular swimmers, sports people, holiday makers, and LGBT clients.

We won’t say waxing is totally painless but there are certainly steps you can take to make the process quicker and more comfortable.

Our 4 steps to the best waxing results

  • Plan your appointments

First time waxing sessions can be a little more painful. A one-off wax, particularly when clients have shaved previously can feel more painful due to the fact that hair can become courser when you have been shaving. It prevents hair from growing at the same rate meaning you only have a very short period of time before needing to remove hair again.

If a client would like to start waxing, we recommend booking an appointment with the clinic three to four months before a holiday. If a client really can’t wait that long, we ask them to leave two to three weeks after shaving before booking an appointment or the hair won’t be long enough to wax.

  • Exfoliate

Skin prep is an important part of the hair removal process and helps to keep things as pain-free and straightforward as possible. We recommend clients moisturise and exfoliate between appointments to prep skin.

To minimise in-growing hairs we recommend exfoliation 7 days after waxing with a good gritty exfoliator, applying first to dry skin using damp hands, and then stepping into the shower to wash it off. This gives the best results from exfoliation and enables hairs to push through the skin’s surface and reduces the risk of ingrown hairs.

It’s a good idea to create a regular skincare routine for your body to reduce dry skin patches and discourage ingrown hairs

  • Resist the razor

Waxing removes all hairs in one treatment meaning you will stay hair free for much longer than you would after shaving. Shaving trims small amounts of hair which means it never establishes a growth pattern. When you start waxing the hair will begin to develop a growth pattern, but this takes time and will be much slower if you shave between appointments.

  • Hot (peelable) wax

Our clinic uses the best, premium hair removal products including peelable wax for intimate waxing. We have found this wax gives the best results and makes the process quicker and less painful for our clients.

We stock the best products we can find to support hair removal treatments and give clients the best results possible.

  • Pre-waxing

Before waxing we use an enriched botanical skin sanitiser that contains aloe vera and natural extracts of cucumber, rosehip, and Australian bush mint.

  • Post waxing

After waxing we use a light, silky lotion with skin renewal and moisturising properties and containing rosehip, jojoba oil, witch hazel, and aloe vera.

  • Homecare – Post wax spray

Our post wax spray is a fantastic product that helps to treat common complaints which can occur after waxing and shaving. Post wax spray includes aloe vera and cucumber extract and is blended with Australian bush mint and menthol to cool and calm the skin. While the antibacterial effects of lemon myrtle oil protects against irritation and supports the skin’s natural defences. This is a popular homecare product among our clients for minimising those post wax reactions after body waxing.

  • Between appointments

Between appointments, we recommend our favourite product, Bush Balm. Bush Balm is a must have for intimate waxing clients as it instantly soothes delicate areas such as the bikini and underarms. It’s an intensely moisturising vegan friendly balm that quickly reduces redness and calms skin after waxing. Contains aloe vera, allantion and frankincense extract to soothe sore skin while the shea butter and macadamia oil quench and deeply nourish the skin.

We highly recommend Bush Balm for clients who are new to waxing as it reduces any inflammation and can be used regularly two to three days after waxing treatment.

Bush Balm can also be used as an intensive overnight moisturising treatment to ease dry and irritated skin. It is excellent for any skin concerns, suits any skin type, and is made using very natural products. In terms of waxing this is our number one product.
